Hulu will take revisionist history to the extreme this February with their eight-part miniseries centered around Stephen King‘s novel 11.22.63, about a present-day teacher who travels back in time in order to prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Hulu unveiled the first trailer for the series, with James Franco in the role of the time traveller tasked with stopping one of the darkest days in American history.
In addition to unlocking the conspiracy to assassinate the president, Franco is also challenged by time itself, as his character Jake Epping is warned, “The past doesn’t want to be changed. When you’re close to changing something, you feel it push back.” The trailer also hints at an alternative way to stop the Kennedy killing: Assassinating Lee Harvey Oswald.
11.22.63 also stars Chris Cooper, Cherry Jones and Josh Duhamel, with the pilot episode helmed by The Last King of Scotland director Kevin Macdonald. King and J.J. Abrams serve as executive producers on the series, which premieres, fittingly, on President’s Day, February 15th.
