Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats will make their Austin City Limits debut on the 41st season’s second-to-last episode, which promises to be a retro soul party as Rateliff will split the hour-long program with Leon Bridges. Since the entirety of Rateliff’s scorching set couldn’t fit into just 30 minutes, ACL have shared with Rolling Stone this web exclusive of the Denver band tearing up and stretching out their self-titled LP‘s “Shake.”
Rateliff previously fronted alt-rockers Born in the Flood before becoming one of 2015’s biggest breakouts after forming the Night Sweats with some Denver buddies. Before that, however, Rateliff was working as a gardener pondering his music career after his record label rejected his solo album. “I’m still waiting for something bad to happen,” Rateliff told Rolling Stone of his newfound fame. “For years, I’ve had people say, ‘This is going to be real big.’ So I’m not sure how to react to it.”
Rateliff and the Night Sweats also brought an energetic version of “I Need Never Get Old” to the ACL concert.
