Though perhaps an unlikely pairing on paper, the pop punk stalwarts have made inroads into the world of hip-hop since teaming up with 2 Chainz for a remix of “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up),” the lead single from their 2013 comeback album, Save Rock and Roll.
Their duet with Fetty Wap hit similar sweet spots, as Fall Out Boy provided the rapper with chugging, palm-muted power chords to spit over before he and Patrick Stump delivered some sweet harmonies during “Trap Queen”‘s indelible chorus.
While Fall Out Boy has been out in support of their sixth LP, American Beauty/American Psycho, since it’s release in January, Fetty Wap has become one of the rap game’s biggest surprises, with “Trap Queen” recently staking a claim in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.
The track has also garnered cosigns from Rihanna and Kanye West, while Fetty Wap also delivered one of the 50 best sets Rolling Stone caught at this year’s SXSW festival in Austin. He’s prepping for the upcoming release of his new project, Fetty Wap: The Mixtape, which is expected to see release soon.
