Watch Colbert, Kermit the Frog Contemplate Free Will, High-Fives

Host, puppet open up about their biggest regrets, existential crises on ‘Late Show’ bit “Big Questions With Even Bigger Stars”

Kermit T. Frog joined Stephen Colbert on his blanket under the cosmos to ponder free will, regrets, identity and high-fives on the latest installment of The Late Show‘s “Big Questions With Even Bigger Stars.”

The pair didn’t ease into their existential musings either, with Colbert asking right off the bat, “You ever wonder why we’re here?”

“Oh, well I think it’s because your people reached out to my agent,” said Kermit.

Elsewhere, the host and frog mulled whether it was better to give than receive — and decided high-fives were the perfect in-between — while both admitted their biggest regrets: For Colbert, not inventing suitcase wheels; and Kermit, enrolling in high school biology.

But their conversation always returned to the queries that make up this quest called life. “What is it that makes you, you?” Kermit asked, to which Colbert replied: “I think it’s 12 writers and two hours of make-up.” Later, Colbert asked the beloved puppet, “Kermit, do you think we have free will, or is there someone controlling our every movement?”

“Uh, gee,” said Kermit, inspecting his limbs. “I guess I never thought about it.”
