The so-called “Long Walk” clip finds the three characters moving through dark hallways to a sparse, rumbling version of James’ “Sit Down.” While Cersei assumes her place upon the Iron Throne, Snow takes a seat at the head of his own table while Daenerys perches atop her throne at Dragonstone. The clip ends with Cersei exhaling a chilly breath and an ominous close-up of a White Walker’s face.
Season Seven of Game of Thrones will comprise seven episodes, down from the typical 10. The summer premiere date is also a change from the show’s usual spring launch. The change was made to accommodate a different shooting schedule, as executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss wanted to film as the weather changed to match the arrival of winter in Westeros.
At a recent South By Southwest panel, Weiss and Benioff confirmed that Game of Thrones‘ final season in 2018 would only consist of six episodes (HBO announced Season Eight would be the show’s last last summer). The showrunners also said that Ed Sheeran would make a cameo appearance during Season Seven.
