Take an Early Peek at the ‘Simpsons’-‘Family Guy’ Crossover Episode

Details for both series revealed at Comic-Con, including a teaser for ‘The Simpsons’ character death

Comic-Con attendees got an early taste of the long-awaited SimpsonsFamily Guy crossover when a sneak preview of the episode aired during Saturday’s Family Guy panel.

Five Simpsons Characters We Want Dead

The nearly five-minute teaser finds the Griffins stuck in Springfield, where Peter cautions his family not to drink the water: “Everybody around here looks like they have hepatitis.” As the families merge, Bart introduces Stewie to his prank-call hobby (Stewie doesn’t quite get the premise) and Peter and Homer bond over donuts. The friendship between the two patriarchs sours, however, when Homer tries Peter’s Patriot Ale, which he calls “a lousy rip-off of Duff.” Peter objects in terms that allude to the relationship between the two animated series. “It may have been inspired by Duff, but I like to think it goes in a different direction,” he says. The clip also includes meta-references to The Cleveland Show and Bob’s Burgers.

A few other details were revealed during the Family Guy panel, as Entertainment Weekly reports. Jesus will return to Quahog for Christmas, and Liam Neeson will play himself in an upcoming episode.

The SimpsonsFamily Guy crossover episode is set to air on September 28th. That same evening also brings the much-discussed Simpsons episode that will see the death of a major character. Given the episode’s title, “Clown in the Dumps,” among other hints, it seems likely that Krusty the Clown is the target. But a teaser for the episode aired at Comic-Con throws in a little more mystery with scenes of Homer stricken with some terrible illness.

As audiences await that fateful day in September, they can brush up on the Springfield universe by watching all 552 episodes of The Simpsons during FXX’s 12-day marathon, beginning August 21st.
