‘Simpsons’ Marathon Premieres Almighty Trailer

All 552 ‘Simpsons’ episodes will air in an upcoming 12-day marathon on FXX

Even if God created the universe in six days, The Simpsons team says they’re ready to achieve a more impressive feat in a new trailer: airing all 552 episodes of their innovative animated comedy in a 12-day FXX marathon, which kicks off August 21st and runs until Labor Day (September 1st). “The Simpsons marathon. . . will last 12 days,” says an omnipresent narrator in a newly released trailer, previously shared at Vulture. “Every belch, every welt, every giant leap for mankind. . . 552 episodes – and not one moment of rest.”

FXX recently acquired the Simpsons syndication rights, and the company is making the most of that lucrative business move: This October, the network is unveiling SimpsonsWorld, described as the “ultimate Simpsons digital experience.” Authenticated users will have access to all 552 episodes by accessing SimpsonsWorld.com, the FXNow apps on iOS, Xbox and Android devices and Smart TVs and similar devices. The website will allow fans to explore the Springfield community, share their favorite clips and create playlists.

The network is planning to schedule Simpsons episodes throughout the week; eight-episode mini-marathons will air on Sundays, starting on September 2nd and running until the premiere of a new episode that night on Fox.

The iconic series’ 26th season kicks off on September 28th – with an episode that will kill off a major character. Given that the episode is titled “A Clown in the Dumps,” most fans assume that character will be Krusty the Clown, but producer Al Jean (who originally broke the news) has kept quiet on the specifics. He did, however, note that the doomed Springfield resident is voiced by someone who won an Emmy for their work on the series. “It turned out bigger than we thought it was going to be,” Jean commented on the episode. “It’s not going to be this bloodbath where they all get murdered.”
