The stars and creators of some of television’s most beloved and groundbreaking reality television series will come together for MTV’s RealityCon in the summer of 2020. This will be the first-ever reality show convention, and will MTV will host a soft-launch for it this fall.
Like any fan-focused convention, RealityCon will feature panels, interviews, performances and more that will celebrate the television genre’s impact on television and society. Even though it is hosted by MTV — who created the genre with The Real World in 1992 — the event will be an expansive look at reality television’s history and feature the people behind and stars of shows like The Bachelor, The Real Housewives, Duck Dynasty, Big Brother, RuPaul’s Drag Race and Survivor alongside MTV staples like Jersey Shore and The Hills.
At press time, MTV has not announced further information on where the convention will take place, how long it will be or the exact dates. Further information on the soft-launch this fall as well as a promise for more global events in the lead-up to RealityCon will be revealed at a later date.
This year, MTV brought back its famed Spring Break programming and event with a week-long series of live concerts in Cancun last month. City Girls, Tyga and Zara Larsson were among the performers. Later this year, MTV will launch SnowGlobe Music Festival. The three-day, off-season winter festival will take place in South Lake Tahoe, California from December 29th through 31st. Pre-sale tickets have gone on sale but the official line-up has yet to be announced.
