Louis C.K.‘s earnest attempt to make “connections as human beings” results in a awkward dinner on the next episode of Portlandia as the comedian, playing himself, encounters Fred Armisen, Carrie Brownstein and other denizens of the IFC series. In a preview from the March 3rd episode, C.K. tries to have a simple meal with “Fred” and “Carrie,” but it’s marred by Fred’s attempts to turn every piece of conversation into a comedy routine.
“Where are the damn piano teachers?” Fred asks, trying to do a bit. “Here’s the thing: The point of comedy is you ask a question, the people go, ‘Yeah, I’m not sure about that.’ You can’t just ask a question,” C.K. tells him. “‘How long is a meter compared to a yard?’ That’s not a joke.”
In another scene from the C.K.-featuring Portlandia episode, “Fred” and “Carrie” force the comedian into hanging out with them after they discover C.K. canceled a Portland comedy show over a “fake” family emergency. As The Oregonian notes from when the episode filmed in September, C.K.’s Horace and Pete co-star Steve Buscemi helmed this Portlandia episode.
