Louie will finally be back on TV this May. After a 19-month hiatus, Louis C.K.’s Emmy-winning FX series is scheduled to return for its fourth season with 14 new episodes, beginning on Monday, May 5th, according to The Hollywood Reporter

Back-to-back episodes of the show will run for seven consecutive weeks, every Monday at 10 p.m. and 10:30. FX had initially ordered just 13 episodes for the season, but C.K., who writes, directs, edits and stars in the show, ended up making 14.

When he announced the show’s hiatus in October 2012, C.K. said that he saw the first three seasons of Louie as a sort of trilogy, and that he wants to start fresh with a new story for the fourth season. “I want the show to keep getting better,” he said at the time. “I want Season Four to go somewhere new.” The final episode of Season Three saw Louie attempting to bust out of his own morbid lethargy for the New Year with a solo trip to China.

“Louis said he needed extra time between seasons three and four of his show because – even though Louie was the most critically acclaimed television comedy series in America – he needed to make it even better,” FX CEO John Landgraf told THR. “Based on the first three episodes we’ve seen, remarkably, he accomplished his goal.”

C.K. is also collaborating with Zach Galifianakis on a new comedy pilot for FX as part of a production deal to create new programs for the network and its affiliates. He’ll be hosting Saturday Night Live for the second time on March 29th.
