Larry David Wins $5,000 for Calling Donald Trump a Racist on ‘SNL’

“As a businessman, I can fully respect that,” Trump said — one of a broad coalition of Latino rights groups that led a boycott of Saturday Night Live this weekend — offered a $5,000 bounty to anyone who would disrupt the live broadcast of the Donald Trump-hosted episode by yelling “Trump is a racist” or “Deport racism.” It worked too. The Republican presidential candidate was in the middle of his opening monologue when he was interrupted by a shout of “You’re a racist!” from the audience.

“I knew this would happen.” Trump, flanked by past and present SNL impersonators Darrell Hammond and Taran Killam, said. “Who is that?”

It was comedian Larry David, standing offstage. “Trump’s a racist!” David, who reprised his role as Senator Bernie Sanders in the show’s cold open on Saturday, yelled again.

“I heard if I yelled that they would give me $5,000,” David shrugged.

“As a businessman, I can fully respect that,” Trump replied.

Luke Montgomery, campaign director for, told Rolling Stone they will be sending David the prize money, and throwing in a “Deport Racism” T-shirt to show their appreciation.

“It may have been a joke but it got the point across in a huge way that Trump’s attacks on American children who are US citizens calling them ‘anchor babies’ and threatening to change the US constitution because their parents are brown and Latino is racist,”  Montgomery said on Sunday. “Larry David is our hero.”

Based on the success of the SNL campaign, Montgomery said the group would be offering another cash bounty to any protesters who can disrupt the GOP primary debate on November 10th. “Republicans are going to learn that you can’t win the White House by attacking brown people,” he said.
