The clip picks up just moments after the show’s Season One finale with — spoilers ahead — Oh’s MI5 security operative, Eve Polastri, telling someone on the phone that she believes she’s finally killed Comer’s psychotic assassin, Villanelle. The moment perfectly captures the show’s dark sense of humor too, with Eve’s phone call awkwardly interrupting a couple’s engagement proposal.
The rest of the trailer, however, shows that Villanelle is far from dead. Set to a dramatic cover of Robert Palmer’s “Addicted to Love,” the clip follows Villanelle as she flees a hospital, finds a fresh victim and continues her obsessive pursuit of Eve, even going so far as to send her a box of flowers arranged to spell out her name.
Sandra Oh won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama earlier this year for her role in the freshman season of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s spy thriller, making history as the first Asian actress to do so. She was also the first Asian host of any major awards show ever when she hosted alongside Andy Samberg.
