J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions is developing Glare, an HBO space drama about the colonization of another planet. Javier Gullón will write the script and executive produce the hour-long series with Abrams and Bad Robot’s Ben Stephenson, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Glare marks Bad Robot’s second production for HBO, following the acclaimed sci-fi/thriller Westworld, which was recently renewed for a second season airing in 2018. The Star Wars: A Force Awakens director previously earned TV credits for Showtime music-drama Roadies, Hulu drama 11.22.63, CBS sci-fi drama Person of Interest and complex ABC mystery series Lost, among others.
In 2016, Abrams produced two films: Star Trek Beyond and 10 Cloverfield Lane, a pseudo-sequel to 2008 found footage horror film Cloverfield. He’s currently producing God Particle, the third title in the Cloverfield franchise, and Star Wars: Episode VIII, both of which come out in 2017.
