Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex) and David Tennant (Doctor Who) play a reluctantly cooperative angel and demon aiming to stop the apocalypse in the new trailer for Good Omens, Amazon’s upcoming series based on Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s 1990 novel of the same name.
The clip opens with the two protagonists showcasing how they’ve grown accustomed to their Earthy dwellings: The angel Aziraphale smiles as he strolls through a church and beams up to Heaven, and the sunglasses-clad demon Crowley snarls as he walks through fire. “I am an angel; you are a demon,” says Aziraphale. “We’re hereditary enemies.” But they rival duo strike up an unholy alliance to prevent the arrival of the antichrist and the final showdown between Heaven and Hell.
The trailer also showcases the rest of the show’s ensemble cast, including Jon Hamm as Archangel Gabriel. “The world isn’t just going to end itself,” he says. “The four horsemen of the apocalypse are being summoned: war, pollution, famine, death.” When Aziraphale asks who precisely summons them, Gabriel fires back, “Not my department.”
Nick Offerman, Jack Whitehall, Miranda Richardson, Anna Maxwell Martin, Josie Lawrence, Adria Arjona and Michael McKean co-star. Gaiman serves as writer, showrunner and co-executive producer on the series, which debuts Friday, May 31st on Amazon Prime Video.
