Leave it to Ryan Murphy and his team from FX's terrifying American Horror Story to keep fans guessing, and in a clever way. The new trailer for Season Six might provide clues to next season's theme or the video might be a ruse.
In the new clip, which is titled "The Harvest," a group of straw men are slowly making their way through a field as a girl holding a scythe tracks closely behind them.
As Variety notes, FX CEO John Landgraf said that the teasers are intentionally misleading viewers, with only one of the trailers actually revealing the true focus of Season Six.
“We just thought it would be really fun to keep it a mystery this year. And we are,” Landgraf told reporters during the Television Critics Association summer press tour earlier this month, via Variety. “They went out and made many more trailers than you’ve actually seen for hypothetical seasons of American Horror Story. One of them is accurate.”
Given Landgraf's reveal and the fact that the clip depicts literal straw men, also defined as shams, it's a good possibility that this is one of the mock teasers. However, the clip has the appropriate creepy AHS vibe that it could very well be the real deal.
A montage of "Murder House," "Asylum," "Coven," "Freak Show" and "Hotel" are featured in another clip called "Anthology," which was unveiled on Wednesday. That video suggests that the theme for Season Six may be interwoven with previous motifs, or it just might be another ploy. Watch it below.
Season Six of FX's American Horror Story premieres on September 14th.
