Neil Patrick Harris dons an array of devious disguises in his debut as Count Olaf in the exciting first trailer for Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events.
Based on Lemony Snicket's books of the same name, the show chronicles the wretched saga of the Baudelaire children – Violet, Klaus and Sunny – who are sent to live with their distant relative Count Olaf after their parents' sudden death. While Olaf's first attempt to steal their fortune fails, he continues to track the Baudelaires in disguise as they are shepherded to other guardians and slowly uncover more family secrets.
The new clip teases a gorgeous, hyper-stylized universe packed with fantastical sets, costumes and a large cast of oddballs with a dark and silly sense of humor. Harris, unsurprisingly, shines throughout, dressing up as everyone from a Joan Crawford-esque femme fatale to a roguish sea captain, delivering ridiculous punchlines.
A Series of Unfortunate Events arrives on Netflix Friday, January 13th. The series stars Malina Weissman, Louis Hynes and Presley Smith as the Baudelaire children, Patrick Warburton as Lemony Snickett, as well as Joan Cusack, Catherine O'Hara, Aasif Mandvi, Don Johnson, Alfre Woodard and more.
