Netflix is wishing viewers A Very Murray Christmas this holiday season, debuting Bill Murray's all-star special on Friday, December 4th. A new teaser for the Sofia Coppola-directed project previews the hijinks unfolding at New York City's iconic Carlyle hotel, where a blizzard ruins production on the actor's live, international holiday broadcast. Joined by famous friends like George Clooney, Miley Cyrus and Chris Rock, Murray makes the most of his surroundings, singing and dancing with everyone in the building.
"Tonight will go down as the greatest night in history," Murray says to open the clip, leading to a massive celebrity montage – including shots of Clooney holding a martini, a puzzled-looking Rock, Maya Rudolph belting behind a microphone and Cyrus joining Murray for an elaborate musical number. The preview is soundtracked by a Murray-led version of "Let It Snow," which ends with the actor shouting, "Look out, ol' Santa is back!"
A Very Murray Christmas was co-written by Coppola, Murray and Mitch Glazer and executive produced by Coppola, Glazer, Roman Coppola and Tony Hernandez. The cast also includes Paul Shaffer, Amy Poehler, Jason Schwartzman, Jenny Lewis, Phoenix, Michael Cera, Rashida Jones, David Johansen, Frederic Moulin, Julie White and Dimitri Dimitrov, among others.
Netflix announced the special in May, calling the production an "homage to the classic variety show." A teaser, soundtracked by jazz piano, created a magnetic Lost in Translation vibe with a solemn Murray staring out the Carlyle window at the New York City skyline.
