Bill Cosby: First Black Actor To Win (1966)

At the peak of the civil rights movement, Cosby became the first African-American to win an Emmy — for Best Actor in a Drama for I Spy, his very first acting role. He would go on to pick up four more Emmys over the course of his career, including Best Actor three years in a row. (Surprisingly, he was never even nominated for his iconic turn as beloved patriarch Cliff Huxtable in the hit 1980s sitcom The Cosby Show.)
