Watch TV on the Radio, War on Drugs Rock ‘Austin City Limits’
The impressive 41st season of Austin City Limits continued Saturday night with an episode dedicated to a pair of indie rock groups that were making their debut appearances on the long-running music series, TV on the Radio and the War on Drugs.
For TV on the Radio’s five-song set, the Brooklyn band focused on their 2014 LP Seeds (“Could You,” “Lazerray,” “Trouble”) along with “Golden Age” and “DLZ” from 2008’s Dear Science. The War on Drugs’ jammed-out four-song set was comprised entirely of tracks from their acclaimed 2014 album Lost in the Dream: Opener “Under the Pressure,” “Eyes to the Wind,” “In Reverse” and the title track.
In other ACL news, the series announced that Lauryn Hill recorded an episode for the 41st season on Saturday night, with the Fugees singer staging a rare television performance and her first Austin City Limits appearance. Hill was in Austin to perform Sunday night at the city’s Fun Fun Fest. No word yet when Hill’s ACL set will premiere. Kendrick Lamar also recently taped an upcoming episode for the series.
