Watch Tom Hanks Recreate Filmography with James Corden

Actor and new ‘Late Late Show’ revisit ‘Big,’ ‘Bachelor Party,’ ‘Forrest Gump’ and more in frantic bit

Tom Hanks has delivered countless tour de force performances throughout his career, but the actor outdid himself on the inaugural episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden Monday, recreating the bulk of his filmography in a hilarious, frantic segment with the new host.

In under eight minutes, Hanks and Corden blasted through classic moments in movies like Forrest Gump (“Life is like a box of chocolates”), A League of Their Own (“There’s no crying in baseball!”) and Big, during which the pair expertly recreated the “Down Down Baby” rap and dance. Hanks also allowed for clever twists on some of his most famous pictures, proclaiming during the Saving Private Ryan segment that the guy they’re searching for “looks a little like Matt Damon!”

Elsewhere, Hanks plastered a red handprint on Corden’s face and hollered “Wilson!” while later looking deep into the Mona Lisa — her famous face replaced by Corden’s still scarlet countenance — and declaring, “Wow, those eyes really do follow you around.”

Finally, Hanks brought Toy Story‘s Sheriff Woody to life, flailing his arms around like the CGI cowboy before he and Corden (as Buzz Lightyear) closed out the bit with a rousing rendition of Randy Newman’s theme, “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.”

Hanks has a number of projects lined up for 2015 and beyond, including the October 16th release of Bridge of Spies. The film, which Steven Spielberg directed, finds the actor playing a lawyer sent to the Soviet Union to negotiate the release of a pilot whose plane was shot down. Hanks also recently played a starring role in the video for Carly Rae Jepsen’s, “I Really Like You,” in which he lip-synced the lyrics to the Canadian pop-star’s bubbly new single.
