Watch ‘Stranger Things’ Stars Jam to ‘Uptown Funk’ at Emmys

Three of the primary Stranger Things cast members – Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) and Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) – showcased their musical skills during Sunday’s Emmy Awards pre-show. The trio performed a spirited cover of Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars‘ 2014 smash “Uptown Funk.”
The trio traded off vocals, shaking and pouting through the songs signature “Hot damn!”s. They also showcased some Mars-inspired dance moves, gliding around the stage during the instrumental breaks. Most of the Stranger Things child actors have musical backgrounds. Brown has recorded a series of performance cover videos (including John Lennon and Amy Winehouse) for her YouTube channel and both McLaughlin and Matarazzo began their careers on Broadway.
Stranger Things fever has crossed over to the music world as well. Rapper Wiz Khalifa sampled Stranger Things‘ eerie theme song for his paranoid new track “Stranger Things,” featuring J.R. Donato. And last week, German synth masters Tangerine Dream released their own hypnotic cover version of the theme.
The acclaimed Netflix series was recently renewed for a second season, expected to air in 2017.
