Lane stars as a lone runaway who finds herself being pulled into a group of “traveling salespeople,” led by LaBeouf and Keough. The group rides around in a van across America together trying to make money and scam various people along the way. Over the course of their trip, LaBeouf and Lane’s characters become romantically involved with one another, leading to a volatile relationship and jealousy from Keough.
American Honey was one of the most acclaimed selections at the Cannes Film Festival last month, winning the Jury Prize. The film has been picked up by A24 and will be released later this year, though no official release date has been announced. Director Arnold previously won the Cannes Jury Prize for her film Red Road and won an Academy Award in 2005 for her short film Wasp.
