Watch ‘Orange Is the New Black’s Heartbreaking Season 3 Trailer
Following a more uproarious first trailer, Orange Is the New Black‘s second official preview of Season 3 shares a glimpse of the more tender, heartbreaking moments to come for the Litchfield inmates.
“Maybe the universe is making me a better person,” Piper Chapman (played by Taylor Schilling) says at the beginning of the trailer. “I can fix things. I’m learning Spanish. I’m a part of a community.” The clip continues by showing scenes of the community fans of the popular Netflix series have come to know so intimately.
The characters appear to be struggling with what life after Litchfield will look like as the actual institution caging them in struggles to stay afloat. Piper knows she lacks personal and professional prospects once she is released, while the others are trying to maintain the families and friendships. “People need love,” Crazy Eyes (Uzo Aduba) offers to Poussey (Samira Wiley).
The stars of Orange Is the New Black recently spoke with Rolling Stone about the show’s impact on not only media but their own lives. “We’ve revolutionized television,” Laverne Cox said in the cover story. “The unprecedented diversity that we just saw in pilot season I think would not be possible if it weren’t for us.”
Australian model and musician Ruby Rose will be joining the new season of OITNB and cleared up a rumor that the show’s new season would be more exploitative. “What I was saying was that in the acting industry in general and [given] what we’re provided in content on TV and in film, life in a women’s prison is not something that’s usually discussed or portrayed,” Rose told RS. “And on top of that, the main characters are all female protagonists, it’s written by a lot of women and cast by women — everything about it is amazing.”
OITNB’s third season will premiere on Netflix on June 12th.
