The new clip, titled “Hallways,” gives a glimpse at the ghoulish, dangerous residents of the hotel. The show’s stars, including Chloe Sevigny, Matt Bomer, Angela Bassett and Sarah Paulson, are seen roaming the corridors amongst numerous Omen-esque children, mattresses with people sewn in them and blenders filled with blood. The 30-second trailer leads up to a ghostly Gaga in a dramatic wedding dress. During the Television Critics’ Association summer press tour, Murphy revealed that Gaga will portray the owner of the hotel.
AHS: Hotel will be the pop star’s first recurring role, following cameos in Machete Kills, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and Muppets Most Wanted. Murphy has long been a fan of Gaga, having dedicated an entire episode of Glee to her music.
Three of Murphy’s popular television series — Glee, American Horror Story, Scream Queens — have made headlines with their use of music’s biggest stars in the cast. The upcoming Scream Queens will feature Ariana Grande and Nick Jonas, while Adam Levine and Stevie Nicks have guest-starred on past installments of American Horror Story.
Gaga has spent most of her year promoting her collaborative album with Tony Bennett, Cheek to Cheek. They performed the title track at the Grammy Awards earlier in the year and two weeks later, Gaga stole the Oscars with her The Sound of Music medley.
