Watch Jimmy Kimmel’s Annual Halloween Candy Prank on Kids

This year’s crop features intense crying, temper tantrums, fainting fits and physical violence

In what’s become an annual Halloween tradition like trick-or-treating, scary movie marathons and questionable costumes, Jimmy Kimmel Live! has once again recruited parents to tell their children they ate all of their Halloween candy while recording their reaction. Now in its fifth year, “I Told My Kids I Ate All Their Halloween Candy” received a “record number” of submissions in 2015, with Kimmel picking out the best instances of intense crying, temper tantrums, fainting fits and, in some cases, physical violence toward the candy-consuming parent. As one girl screams in the video, “I wanted to try Skittles!”

“We never seem to run out of participants for this. Every year, I think, ‘Kids are going to know. They watch these videos; maybe they’ll be too old for it,’ but every year, there’s a whole new crowd,” Kimmel said. The host warned future generations of trick-or-treaters, “I will be able to do this for as long as people have sex.” However, Kimmel should have some cause for concern: With this the fifth year of the multi-million viewed viral video, some kids are starting to get wise to Kimmel’s trick.

In the latest installment, a pair of brothers smile incredulously after their mother tells them she ate all their candy. “That is totally Jimmy Kimmel-related, and I’m not buying it,” one of them says, while the other brother chimes in, “Sorry, Jimmy Kimmel. It’s really funny though.”
