Watch James Corden, Meg Ryan, Adam Scott Act in Brazen Beyonce Soap Opera
James Corden, Meg Ryan and Adam Scott giddily overact Beyoncé’s lyrics during the latest installment of The Late Late Show‘s pop music soap opera sketch, “The Bold and the Lyrical.”
The clip opens with Ryan and Scott as secret lovers, whispering sweet nothings from “Naughty Girl” and “Say My Name.” When Corden comes home and discovers the affair, he cries out “Ring the alarm,” causing Scott to admit he’s Ryan’s “baby boy.” Ryan murmurs, “Uh-oh,” which quickly evolves into the refrain from “Crazy in Love.”
Corden and Ryan’s squabble turns to melodrama with lyrics from “Halo,” “Hold Up” and “Flawless,” before Corden throws out a harsh, “But don’t ever get to thinking you’re irreplaceable.” Ryan responds with a stoic “Single Ladies” lyric and a slap.
While the scene ends with Ryan returning to Scott’s arms, it’s the scorned Corden who gets the final word: “I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly, because my body’s too bootylicious for you, babe.”
