Watch ‘Better Call Saul’ Teaser Featuring Eternally Grouchy Mike
AMC has shared a funny clip from Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul. The minute-long clip features a strapped-for-cash Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) – then known by his real name, Jimmy McGill – attempting to weasel his way into a parking garage operated by Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks).
“I was a jerk,” Jimmy tells his future criminal fixer/private investigator. “I will pay you what I owe you plus interest if you just let me come through.” Wearing his classic poker face, Mike says the lawyer should find another means of parking, which leads to a slew of insults and a hilarious physical confrontation.
Better Call Saul will premiere with a special two-night run on Sunday, February 8th, and Monday, the 9th. Both episodes will air at 10 p.m. EST, with all subsequent episodes airing on Monday nights. The series also revealed a teaser trailer that features a ravaged motel room, complete with a “Tingle Fingers Vibrating Bed.”
The heavily anticipated spin-off finds Odenkirk reprising his Breaking Bad role. The plot begins in the early 2000s – six years before that show’s meth-focused timeline – when the character was a small-time lawyer known as Jimmy McGill. The series, co-created by Breaking Bad showrunner Vince Gilligan and writer-director Peter Gould, will focus on McGill’s transformation into “Saul Goodman.” Better Call Saul, which has already secured a second season renewal – will also feature new cast members played by Michael McKean (as Saul’s brother), Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian and Michael Mando.
In a recent behind-the-scenes series preview, Odenkirk compared reprising the role to winning the lottery. “It was always in Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould’s laps to create it, want to do it and have a vision for it,” the actor said. “And I came along as a lucky actor.”
