In the trailer, few actual scenes are spoiled from the second season, showing just the characters Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) and Billy Russo (Ben Barnes) ominously standing, screaming and preparing to fight in a dark room. Billy in particular is shown to be removing the bandages from a traumatic head injury he received at the hands of Frank. “You need to be what I’m meant to be,” Frank says via voiceover at one point while wielding a gun. “I’m not the one who dies. I’m the one who does the killing.”
The Punisher premiered on Netflix in 2017 as the sixth entry in the Netflix/Marvel alliance. The character, seen as an antihero and street-level superhero who lacks supernatural powers, was first introduced as a supporting character in the Spider-Man comics in the Seventies and later became fan favorite. Prior to the series, the comic was adapted into a 2004 film starring Thomas Jane.
