‘The Michael J. Fox Show’ Plans ‘Back to the Future’ Reunion

Michael J. Fox is going back to the future on an upcoming episode his NBC sitcom The Michael J. Fox Show. Christopher Lloyd, who played Dr. Emmett Brown opposite Fox’s Marty McFly in Back to the Future and its two sequels, will guest-star in an episode next spring according to The Hollywood Reporter. This time around, Lloyd will appear as the principal of the high school where Annie Henry (Betsy Brandt), the wife of Fox’s character Mike Henry, is employed.

The Michael J. Fox Show marks a full-time return to TV for the actor, who left a starring role on Spin City in 2001 as symptoms of his Parkinson’s disease worsened. After Spin City, Fox appeared in occasional guest roles on shows including Scrubs, Boston Legal and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Fox got his start on Family Ties before starring in films including Teen Wolf, The Secret of My Success and Doc Hollywood.

Fox told Rolling Stone in September that Parkinson’s has made him a better actor. “That hesitation, that Parkinsonian affect, is an opportunity to just pause in a moment and collect as a character and respond to what’s happening and just gave me this kind of gravitas,” he said as part of a cover story. “It really gave me a new view of things.”
