‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ Trailer Offers Sex, Guns, Villains
“Sin City is where you go in with your eyes open – or you don’t come out at all.” So says Johnny (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) during the trailer for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, the long-awaited sequel to Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez’ acclaimed 2005 noir-thriller. Though barely over a minute long, the clip offers a gripping preview of the seedy brilliance that lies ahead – including lots of sex, gun-wielding “dames,” creepy color schemes and hair-raising one-liners.

The trailer’s highlights include Ray Liotta’s terrifying eyes, Josh Brolin falling backwards into a psychedelic black-hole, Gordon-Levitt screaming like a maniacal Bond villian and a leather-clad, bar-side Jessica Alba holding a gun while swigging hooch.
Dame – co-directed by Frank Miller (author of the original graphic novels) and Robert Rodriguez – weaves together four separate vignettes set in the titular, crime-filled city. “A Dame to Kill For” (adapted from Miller’s second Sin City book) stars Brolin as Dwight McCarthy, a man who attempts to aid former flame Ava (Eva Green) escape from her evil billionaire husband. “Just Another Saturday Night,” also adapted from the graphic novels, stars the eternally gruff Mickey Rourke as Marv, a fan favorite from the original film.
The sequel also features two original stories: “The Fat Loss” features Alba as troubled stripper Nancy, coping with the suicide of Hartigan (Bruce Willis); meanwhile, “The Long Bad Night” stars Gordon-Levitt as a gambler named Johnny, who – naturally – gets in over his head with the city’s evildoers. (And, because this is a Sin City film, after all, there’s a stripper played by Julia Garner.)
Dame will be released by Dimension Films on August 22nd.
