Shailene Woodley Tells Audience to ‘Blaze On’ at MTV Movie Awards

Shailene Woodley had had a big night at the MTV Movie Awards. Not only did the young actress win for her performance in The Fault in Our Stars, but she was also presented with the Trailblazer Award.
Miles Teller, a frequent co-star of Woodley’s, gave a touching speech about the star filled with anecdotes about their time together. The actress then took the stage and gave an acceptance speech that was candidly sweet as it was funny and offbeat. “I realized that we can’t fully be ourselves without a community,” said the Insurgent star. “Without people to reflect back to us who we really are.”
Woodley seemed mostly unprepared for her time behind the microphone, even making an off-the-cuff remark about the title of her award. “I was gonna say let’s blaze on, but I don’t know if I can say that,” she offered. “So, let’s trailblaze on!”

Earlier in the evening, Woodley gave a tear-jerking shout-out to John Green, the author of the book The Fault in Our Stars. Green, who was in the audience, shed a few tears in response to her words of appreciation for the author’s work. “I love Shailene Woodley,” he tweeted. “Overwhelmed and grateful for her friendship and for her being Hazel so brilliantly.”
Woodley is also nominated for Best Duo and Best Kiss, both with her co-star Ansel Elgort.
