Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg Making Film About Sega-Nintendo Rivalry

What’s more epic than the battle between Heaven and Hell? Apparently the battle between Sega and Nintendo. According to Collider, filmmaking duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will follow their apocalyptic 2013 smash This Is the End with Console Wars, a comedy about the rivalry between the Nineties’ two most historic video game companies.

The duo will direct and write the Sony-released film, adapting the script from Blake Harris’ upcoming 2014 book, Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo and the Battle That Defined a Generation. The book traces the heated corporate rivalry between the two video game titans and features a foreword by Rogen and Goldberg. Harris will executive produce the film, with Scott Rudin (The Social Network) coming on board as producer.
Together, Rogen and Goldberg have created a stoner-comedy empire, co-writing acclaimed films like 2007’s Superbad and 2008’s Pineapple Express. And they have plenty of eclectic projects in the pipeline, including an R-rated animated film titled Sausage Party and a TV adaptation of the macabre Nineties comic book Preacher (for AMC).
The duo will also collaborate with their buddy James Franco on two upcoming films: the dark comedy The Interview (which they’ll co-write and direct) and a co-produced adaptation of Greg Sestero’s memoir The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside the Room chronicling the making of the ridiculous cult classic film The Room.
