See Zac Efron, Melissa McCarthy Read Mean Tweets on ‘Jimmy Kimmel’
Jimmy Kimmel Live corralled an impressive list of stars including Zac Efron, Melissa McCarthy, Paul Rudd, Kate Hudson and Bryan Cranston for the 10th installment of “Celebrities Read Mean Tweets.” Of course, the haters also showed up with plenty of unrepentant savagery.
Hugh Grant opened the segment by being told “his stutteringly pathetic ‘charm’ is about as appealing to me as closing my scrotum in a DVD case,” while Hudson laughed off being called “a dead-eyed trash bag that smells like low tide.” Elsewhere, McCarthy was informed that she “is the Madea of white people” and Anthony Mackie that “he looks like a fucking aardvark.”
Other highlights included an existentially brutal Paul Rudd burn — “the most boring vanilla dude. You know he just sits at home with his wife having a bland spaghetti dinner talking about his day” — and Efron confronting a type-casting nightmare: “Has Zac Efron ever been in a film where he didn’t play a total douche? I’ve never seen one of his films, I’m just judging by his face.” Bryan Cranston, meanwhile, offered one of the best readings, responding to the quip that he “looks like Jim Carrey impersonating Matthew McConaughey” with a brilliant, “Alright, alright, alrighty then!”
