See Tracey Ullman Take On Judi Dench, Angela Merkel in Show Trailer
Tracey Ullman hilariously sends up Dame Judi Dench and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in the trailer for the debut season of the sketch series Tracey Ullman’s Show. As Densch, she keys a car and gets away with it by saying, “I’m a national treasure.” And as Merkel, she accepts the compliment of being called a “white Beyoncé” and a “sturdy German pussycat doll.”
The six-episode season, which aired earlier this year in the U.K., kicks off October 28th at 11 p.m. EST on HBO. In addition to Densch and Merkel, Ullman parodies J.K. Rowling and David Beckham, among others. The show has already been renewed for a second season in the U.K.
The show is the latest in the comedian’s long lineage of sketch comedy shows. In the Eighties, she starred on her own The Tracey Ullman Show on Fox, which provided the first platform for the Simpsons. She also starred in Tracey Takes On … in the late Nineties and State of the Union in the late 2000s.
