See Jimmy Kimmel Test Pedestrians on Desiigner’s ‘Panda’ Lyrics
Jimmy Kimmel attempted to make sense of his musical guest Desiigner’s smash single “Panda” on Tuesday night’s episode. The host noted how “Panda” managed to top the charts even though “parents-age” people can’t decipher the lyrics. To test his theory, Kimmel’s team hit the streets to play adults “Panda” lines and see how they interpreted them.
From the start, pedestrians struggle to comprehend the words, with one woman hearing “I got bras in the morning” instead of the actual line “I got broads in Atlanta.” “Macy … high school … slip-off,” another pedestrian guesses. “White X6, panda/ Pockets full, Danny/ Sellin’ bars, candy” are the actual lyrics.
One under-30 pedestrian not only knew the lyrics, but did an admirable job keeping pace with Desiigner’s rapping. The pedestrian then pointed out that while he doesn’t have broads in Atlanta, he does have “a broad in Gardena” named Mercedes.
After somewhat educating parents on the “Panda” lyrics, Desiigner took the Kimmel stage to perform his new single, the similarly inscrutable “Tiimmy Turner.”
