See Alec Baldwin Become Donald Trump For New ‘SNL’ Season

Sixteen-time guest host follows cast members Taran Killam, Darrell Hammond and Phil Hartman as latest person to parody GOP nominee

Frequent Saturday Night Live host Alec Baldwin will portray Donald Trump throughout the election season on the long-running sketch comedy series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Cast members Taran Killam and Darrell Hammond most recently portrayed the GOP’s presidential nominee.

Baldwin will debut his Trump impression on the show’s October 1st season premiere and will continue playing the part throughout the season. Former cast member Hammond portrayed Trump last season following his return in 2014 as the show’s announcer. Killam had played Trump prior, but his contract was not renewed for the upcoming 42nd season.

Long before Trump became a reality show host and presidential candidate, his status as a figurehead of cartoonish New York City wealth was parodied in the early Nineties on the show by cast member Phil Hartman. In sketches poking fun at his luxurious home life and divorce, Jan Hooks played Trump’s former wife Ivana.

Baldwin, who currently hosts a reboot of the Seventies game show Match Game, has hosted the show 16 times since 1990, a record for the show. Last November, Trump hosted the show amidst controversy after NBC assured that they had cut ties with him following his racially insensitive statements at the launch of his presidential campaign.
