Pharrell Williams, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith Line Up ‘SNL’ Appearances

Being “happy” is just a state of mind, but it is continuing to pay off for Pharrell Williams. In addition to winning Grammys, earning an Oscar nomination and popularizing a piece of clothing that resembles the logo of a certain fast-food chain this year, the hip-hop and R&B artist will be able to add Saturday Night Live performer to his résumé this spring. He’ll be the musical guest on the April 5th episode of the show, performing tracks from his recent LP Girl and complementing host Anna Kendrick.

The late-night mainstay has also just announced talent for two other episodes: Louis C.K. – whose series Louie finally has a return date after a 19-month hiatus – will head up the March 29th episode with musical guest Sam Smith, the dance/R&B artist who broke through in 2012 on Disclosure’s “Latch.” In June, Smith will release his full-length debut, In the Lonely Hour, one of Rolling Stone’s 27 must-hear albums this spring. Of the title, he told the magazine, “I deal with all the different aspects of loneliness.” Considering the plotlines of most episodes of Louie, it will be a perfect match.
Seth Rogen will host the show’s April 12th episode with musical guest Ed Sheeran. Sheeran hasn’t released a new album since 2011’s +, but last September he told Rolling Stone that he had demoed 70 songs. “I’m hoping to release three [albums] in three years,” said the singer-songwriter.
