‘Parks and Rec’s’ Ben Wyatt Geeks Out About ‘Game of Thrones’

No one gives a better gift than Amy Poehler’s Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation. Trying to top her is just downright impossible as she once again proved on the show’s most recent episode, “Anniversaries,” in which she surprised husband Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott) with a scale model replica of the Iron Throne from Game of Thrones. Adorable super nerd that he is, Ben goes into full freak-out mode, and now you can check out a deleted, extended cut of him losing it.
Scott nails every overzealous motion and emotion, grabbing the chair with dramatic force, nearly embracing Leslie before turning back to the Throne, briefly fainting and finally kneeling before it and taking a seat. “I’m actually sitting in it,” Ben beams. “There’s like 50 swords sticking in my butt but I don’t care. I’m never getting up.”

After some failed roleplaying – “I’m Cersei – hello, person in the throne now,” Leslie says to Ben’s dismay – Ben takes a moment to himself, getting his best King Joffrey lean on, asking to see a Targaryen in his chambers and decreeing various “yes”‘s and “no”‘s in tones ranging from bemused to grave. There’s definitely no topping that gift.
Parks and Recreation recently celebrated its 100th episode, though also said goodbye to two major characters, Ann and Chris, played by Rashida Jones and Rob Lowe. Still the show was picked up for a seventh season and has big things planned to close out the year: Wilco‘s Jeff Tweedy is scheduled to appear on an upcoming episode as the former frontman of a local band called Land Ho! – his suggestion – that Leslie and Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt) are trying to reunite; and First Lady Michelle Obama will make a cameo on the Parks and Rec season finale, which airs Thursday, April 24th.
