Own Pee-Wee Herman’s ‘Big Adventure’ Bike

In the 1985 movie Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, Pee-Wee Herman exclaims, “I wouldn’t sell my bike for all the money in the world. Not for a hundred million, trillion, billion dollars!” But while that proclamation led to a lot of “I know you are but what am I?” arguments, the bike’s third official owner – an eBay user named umsc_vet2008 – is not quite so reluctant to part with the bicycle. One lucky Pee-Wee fan with deepish pockets (but probably not a swimming pool for a bathtub) can buy the movie’s red beach cruiser in an auction that ends tomorrow. There’s only one catch: the bike is completely dismantled.
“It’s in pieces now, but everything is there,” reads the description. “I bought it in 2010 for $10,000. Selling because my family is getting larger.” According to TMZ, the seller is hoping to get $15,000 for it this time. At the time of this post, the auction price was $10,000.
The auction comes with an autographed photo of Herman actor Paul Reubens, as well as a photo of him signing the photo, a certificate of authenticity and Warner Bros. plans and spec sheet for the bike on red cargo boxes. The seller prefers pickup but will ship to the lower 48 United States. The item’s condition is “used.”
The only thing that seems to be missing from the auction is the 900-foot chain Herman used to secure his prized possession to a maniacally moving clown in the movie. It does, however, still have the saddle containers to store it.
