‘Orange Is the New Black’ Sets Season 2 Premiere Date

Orange Is the New Black is on its way back. Netflix announced that Season 2 of its original prison series will make its debut on June 6th, Buzzfeed reports. As with the first season, all 13 episodes will be available on the streaming service at once.
Netflix revealed the date for the new season at the end of the last episode of House of Cards, which released its second season on Friday.

The show’s creator, Jenji Kohan, told TV Guide in October that the second season of Orange Is the New Black would shift the focus from the first season’s protagonist, Piper Chapman (played by Taylor Schilling), to the cast as a whole. “It’s becoming much more of an ensemble,” Kohan said. “As much as I love Piper and Taylor and her journey, I think people are interested in everybody’s journey.” She noted that the new episodes would delve into the back stories of other inmates, including Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren, played by Uzo Aduba.
While rumors surfaced over the summer that Laura Prepon, who plays Alex Vause, would be leaving the show, Kohan recently clarified that Prepon would, in fact, be in “most of” the second season.
