One Direction and Ben Affleck both secured a spots on Barbra Walters' annual "Most Fascinating" list, which the veteran TV reporter partially announced on The View today, the New York Post reports.

This year, Affleck has continued to make waves as a director with his latest flick Argo receiving wide acclaim; while One Direction have heralded a second coming of boy bands, most recently packing Rockefeller Plaza for their performance on Today.

While the Number One most fascinating person of 2012 won't be revealed until the program airs December 12th on ABC, Walters revealed some of her other 2012 selections: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Family Guy creator and 2013 Oscar host Seth MacFarlane, Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas.

On The View Walters said she chose people who have been "very much in the news" and added that there are "no criminals."
