‘Office’ Finale Date Set

The Office will close its doors after nine seasons with a one-hour series finale – that also happens to be the show’s 200th episode – that is set to air Thursday, May 16th, at 9 p.m EST, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

The show has already begun to inch towards its swan song, starting with the recent revealings of some of the members of the camera crew who have been documenting the Dunder-Mifflin Scranton branch this whole time. At a recent press conference during the TV Critics Association winter press tour, executive producer Greg Daniels and the show’s cast hinted at a few more surprises in store, including an office firing and the return of Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak.
One person who is unlikely to return is Steve Carell, who left the show after seven seasons portraying Dunder-Mifflin boss Michael Scott. NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt said at TCA: “He left in the way he wanted to leave, and he and Greg talked about it, and I don’t think he will. There’s maybe a little Hail Mary pass on a cameo, but I think the decision would be compromising his schedule.”
