New ‘Game of Thrones’ Posters Tease Ominous New Season

The Lannister family was firmly in control of the Seven Kingdom when Game of Thrones wrapped up its third season, with the heads of the Stark family effectively disposed of – or placed on a stake and paraded around – after the gruesome Red Wedding. Now, EW has a new set of posters for the hit HBO show’s fourth season highlighting the family: the diabolical Tywin, bruised, but not beaten, Tyrion, petulant King Joffrey, conniving mother Cersei and uncle – okay, let’s be real, probably Joffrey’s biological father – Jaime.
All appear alongside the text, “Valar Morghulis,” High Valyrian for “All men must die” (and also the name of season two’s finale). The phrase could signal the Lannister’s continued reign, but that may be in jeopardy after the Red Wedding and Daenerys’ army and dragons growing stronger. We wouldn’t be surprised if “Valar Morghulis” was hinting that the Lannister’s days at the top may be coming to an end.

“There is tremendous clamor for revenge, especially in the wake of the Red Wedding,” show runner David Benioff says in the clip, before promising even better things to come: “Some of the most shocking and mind-blowing scenes in the entire series come at the end of the coming season, there are some very bloody confrontations.”
