New ‘Arrested Development’ Episodes Will Premiere All at Once

According to New York magazine’s Vulture, the long-awaited Arrested Development reunion is on, with a slightly peculiar airing schedule. At the National Association of Broadcasters convention, Netflix honcho Ted Sarandos revealed a binge-friendly premiere schedule for the revived series: all ten new episodes will appear on Netflix on the same day sometime in 2013.
Creator Mitch Hurwitz confirmed that production will start this summer, and he also spoke on the direction of the new episodes. While Hurwitz originally imagined the revival in episodic, self-contained character-specific stories, he admitted the fresh material is “now kind of evolving into becoming more like the old show again.”
The possibilities of the unusual premiere schedule excited Hurwitz, and he’s unconcerned about possible spoilers with the instant availability. “There’s something exciting about trying to break the form again,” he expressed. “It’s comedy. The twists really aren’t as important as the characters.”
Neither Hurwitz nor the cast mentioned the rumored Arrested Development movie, but Hurwitz confirmed his interest in future AD seasons on Netflix.
