Argo screenwriter Chris Terrio, who won an Oscar, has signed on to work on the as-yet-untitled Man of Steel sequel that will feature both Batman and Superman. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. brought in the writer to shape up David Goyer’s screenplay, in which Ben Affleck will play Batman. Goyer is reportedly unavailable as he is working on films for other comics titles, including Sandman.

The writer seems like a logical choice, given his strong ties to Affleck on Argo. In addition to Terrio’s trophy for Best Adapted Screenplay, that movie won three other Oscars including Best Picture, as well as two Golden Globes – one for Best Motion Picture, Drama and a Best Director, Motion Picture win for Affleck.

The Batman-Superman film will be helmed by director Zack Snyder (Man of Steel, Watchmen, 300) and will find Henry Cavill and Amy Adams reprising their roles as Superman and Lois Lane from the 2013 film. Gal Gadot, who has appeared in the Fast and Furious series, is set to play Wonder Woman. The actor who will play Lex Luthor has become the subject of several rumors, the most recent of which involves Joaquin Phoenix. THR also Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa is being considered for a role for the movie.

The film is scheduled to open on July 17th, 2015, and the director has already reportedly shot some exterior scenes. Principal photography is scheduled to begin in Michigan next year and will be finished in August.
