Glee creator Ryan Murphy is reportedly working on a Glee spinoff series that will star Lea Michele, according to Radar Online. No other details are currently available, but the site’s source hinted that if Michele’s Rachel Berry character could age gracefully and plausibly in a new series, other cast members could possibly join her. Previously, news had come out that Murphy and his team were considering moving the setting of the series from Lima, Ohio to New York City.

Is Moving Glee to NYC a Good Decision?

The show reached an impasse earlier this year when actor Cory Monteith – who played the show’s quarterback-turned-singer Finn Hudson – died in July of a heroin and alcohol overdose. Following the actor’s death, the show produced an episode that chronicled the aftermath of his death – without revealing the character’s cause of death – in an effort to help his fans grieve.

Monteith’s death also forced Murphy to completely rethink his planned series finale, which will air at the conclusion of the series’ sixth season next year. “The final year of the show. . . was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn’s story,” Murphy told reporters last month. “I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was, he was in it. I knew what the last line was – she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we’re figuring that out now.”
