Laura Prepon Will Be in ‘Most’ of ‘Orange Is the New Black’ Season Two

The producers of Orange Is the New Black have given Laura Prepon a stay of execution for good behavior. Contrary to reports that the actress would appear in only four of the 13 episodes planned for the second season of Orange Is the New Black, the show’s creator recently said Prepon will get screen time in the majority of the season’s episodes.

“Yes, yes, she is coming back,” Jenji Kohan told Us Weekly at the Writer’s Guild Awards over the weekend. “Not the whole season, but. . . you’ll see her for most of it.” In August, it was reported that Prepon had not signed a contract for the second season. But things moved along quickly, and by November, news came out that she was negotiating her contract for the series’ third season.

Kohan told TV Guide in October that the second season of the Netflix series – which centers on the often-comedic drama that takes place in a women’s correctional facility – would focus on the cast as a whole. The first season had primarily focused on protagonist Piper Chapman (actress Taylor Schilling). The second will open things up. “It’s becoming much more of an ensemble,” Kohan said. “As much as I love Piper and Taylor and her journey, I think people are interested in everybody’s journey.”

She added that the second season would explore the backstories of some of the other inmates, including fan favorite Crazy Eyes (Uzo Aduba). And if the show is extended to a third season, Kohan said she’d like to explore the histories of the prison’s guards.
