King Krule Takes It ‘Easy Easy’ on ‘Letterman’

King Krule made his network TV debut last night on the Late Show With David Letterman, so it’s perhaps understandable that he didn’t look entirely at home with his stripped-down band on what seemed like an especially vast stage set. Still, the 19-year-old London singer didn’t let it faze him too much.

In fact, the musician born Archy Marshall seemed to take it more or less in stride as he plugged away at his single “Easy Easy.” Backed by guitar, bass and drums, Marshall strummed rapidly on a white Telecaster while he drawled out his lyrics in a thick English accent, taking the first half of the song himself before the band kicked in.

The song comes from King Krule’s full-length debut, 6 Feet Beneath the Moon, which Rolling Stone said sounds “at once tired, sad, tough and drunk, suggesting the Morrissey of U.K. dubstep.”
