Jerry Seinfeld will stage his first stand-up special of new material in 22 years with his upcoming 23 Hours to Kill, premiering May 5th on Netflix.
Recorded during one of Seinfeld’s sets at New York’s Beacon Theater, the hour-long special marks the comedian’s first new stand-up special since 1998’s I’m Telling You for the Last Time; in 2017, Seinfeld released Jerry Before Seinfeld, which focused on the comedian revisiting material he wrote in his early days of stand-up.
In Netflix’s trailer for 23 Hours to Kill — framed as a James Bond film with Seinfeld in the role of 007 — Seinfeld questions the advent of the stall doors in restrooms.
“Who designed the bathroom stall with the under display viewing window?” Seinfeld asks. “So we can all see the the lifeless collapse of pant legs and tragic little shoe fronts that are just barely poking out underneath the impotent belt lying helpless.”
Netflix added of the special, “Jerry Seinfeld takes the stage in New York and tackles talking vs. texting, bad buffets vs. so-called ‘great’ restaurants and the magic of Pop Tarts.”
Earlier this year, Seinfeld revealed he would also release his first comedy book in 27 years.
