HBO Calls on Fans for Songs, Recipes for ‘Game of Thrones’ Compendium

HBO is calling on Game of Thrones fans to submit their Westeros-inspired artwork, songs, photographs, recipes, costumes and long-winded analyses to make up an official compendium for the hit show. The submission window opens on December 18th and closes March 28th at midnight EST. A “Council of Editors,” including various bloggers, writers, artists and foodies, will then sort through everything it receives and begin compiling the tome.
As The Compendium‘s site notes, all submissions must pertain to events that took place during Seasons One through Four of Game of Thrones (so no fan fiction about headless zombie dragons). After the submission window closes, every entry will be made available on The Compendium‘s website, organized into the six artistic categories mentioned above. The people whose offerings the Council deems worthy for inclusion in Game of Thrones: The Compendium will receive a copy of the book with their name listed as a contributor when it comes out sometime in 2015.
People interested in making submissions, however, should be sure to read The Compendium‘s guidelines, which forbid any content that contains nudity or is pornographic and “unnecessarily violent and graphic” – despite the gratuitous presence of all those things in Game of Thrones itself. The site also notes that while participants will retain the rights to their content, by submitting they are also granting HBO a license to use their material for various ad campaigns and promotional purposes.
